2003 U.S. imports for consumption of canned tuna in water totaled

306,495,300 as of December 30, 2004.

Imports are up 61.3 million kilos or 25 percent compared to the same period last year.

According to the U.S. Customs Service, the 2004 tariff quota of 22,894,238 has been exceeded by 1,239 percent.
